A Family of Distributed Space-Time Trellis Codes Achieving Full Diversity for Asynchronous Cooperative Communications

چکیده
In current cooperative communication schemes, to achieve cooperative diversity, synchronization between terminals is usually assumed, which may not be practical since each terminal has its own local oscillator. In this paper, we first present a necessary and sufficient condition for the space-time trellis codes based on the stack construction proposed by Hammons and El Gamal to possess the full cooperative diversity order without the synchronization assumption. The condition is that the binary generator metrices of the trellis codes are shift full rank (SFR) matrices, i.e., have full row rank no matter the shifts of their row vectors, where a row corresponds to a terminal (or transmit antenna) and the length of a row vector is the memory size of the corresponding trellis code on the corresponding terminal. We then present a simple construction of SFR for any number of rows, whose number of columns, however, grows exponentially with the number of rows. We finally present some systematic SFR matrix constructions including shortest, i.e., square, SFR matrices.

Diversity analysis of distributed linear convolutive space-time codes for time-frequency asynchronous cooperative networks
This study analyses the achievable cooperative diversity order of the distributed linear convolutional space-time coding (DLC-STC) scheme for time–frequency asynchronous cooperative networks. The authors first prove that perfect time or frequency synchronisation is impractical for cooperative networks with multiple relays serving multiple destinations even when the relays know all accurate time...
متن کاملSuper-quasi-orthogonal space-time trellis codes
We introduce a new family of Space-Time Trellis Codes which extends the powerful characteristics of SuperOrthogonal Space-Time Trellis Codes to four transmit antennas. We consider a family of quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes as building blocks in our new trellis codes. These codes combine set-partitioning and a super set of quasi-orthogonal space-time block codes in a systematic way to p...
متن کاملFull rate space-time turbo codes
This paper proposes a class of full space diversity full rate space-time turbo codes. Both parallel concatenated and serially concatenated codes are designed. The full space diversity design is facilitated by a rank theory. Compared with space-time trellis codes, the simulations show the space-time turbo codes have excellent performance in both quasi-static fading channels and time varying fadi...

Performance evaluation of super orthogonal space-time trellis codes for non-frequency selective fading channels & frequency selective fading channels. The analysis is done in presence of fast fading, block fading and quasi-static fading in Rayleigh, and Nakhagami fast fading channels along with comparison. While providing full diversity and full rate, the structure of our new codes allows an in...
متن کاملDiversity-Multiplexing Tradeoff of Asynchronous Cooperative Diversity in Wireless Networks
Synchronization of relay nodes is an important and critical issue in exploiting cooperative diversity in wireless networks. In this paper, two asynchronous cooperative diversity schemes are proposed, namely, distributed delay diversity and asynchronous space-time coded cooperative diversity schemes. In terms of the overall diversity-multiplexing (DM) tradeoff function, we show that the proposed...
